Biography of Actress Melinda Clarke
Melinda Clarke was born in California on April 24, 1969. Her father John was also an actor, and her mother Patricia was a ballet dancer, and she has one brother named Joshua. When she moved to Los Angeles at 18 years old, she had no trouble landing roles. Melinda Clarke’s first role was for the soap opera Days of Our Lives, cast as Faith Taylor, where her father had also been starring for quite a while. She was nominated a Young Artist Award in the category of Best Young Actress in a Daytime Drama for her role in Days of Our Lives.
Melinda Clarke is also a trained Soprano, and has acted and sang in many musicals. During the early nineties, she starred in small films such as Return of the Living Dead 3, Return to Two Moon Junction, and Spawn. Spawn, based on the comic book series, had many action figures after the movie, and she also had some of her. The plastic action figures were mass-marketed. The same for her role in Xena Warrior Princess as Amazon Velazca. In 1994, Melinda Clarke also had a part in the television series produced by Aaron Spelling, Heaven Help Us.
Melinda Clarke has had guest appearances for the television shows Charmed, Enterprise, Everwood, The District, Seinfeld, and CSI Crime Scene Investigation.
She is most known for her role in the O.C., where she was cast as Julie Cooper, the show’s villain. Her character is a gold digging socialite who had a thing for sleeping with men who were much younger than her, while she was married to a man who was double her age. At first she was cast for a few guest appearances, but the audiences were intrigued by her character, and after the 14th episode she was given a lead role. Melinda Clarke is also the only member of the cast who has actually originated from the O.C.
Melinda Clarke has also made a name for herself, quite ironically, for the popular movie roles she has turned down. These include Tatum Riley’s role in Scream, as she was traumatized and turned off by horror films after she did Return of the Living Dead 3. She has also turned down the role of Maggie in the movie The Hitcher II I’ve Been Waiting. Melinda Clarke has also appeared in the HBO series Entourage.
Melinda Clarke is a socially aware actress as well, as she has volunteered with the Young Storytellers Foundation. She has an upcoming movie, called She Drives Me Crazy, to watch out for.
